Serves: 12

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 Tbls. baking powder
2 tsp. granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 cup melted butter OR margarine - divided
1 cup milk

Herbs & Spices at the Firehouse Pantry


-Combine flour, baking powder, sugar, cream of tartar, and salt.
-Stir in milk and 1/2 cup butter just until moistened.
-Drop batter on a lightly greased cookie sheet by the Tablespoon.
-Bake in a 450 degree oven for 5 minutes.
-Drizzle remaining butter over tops and return to oven for 3-7 minutes, or edges are golden.

Notes: To make garlic cheddar biscuits, add 1/2 cup grated cheddar to the dough and 1 tsp. garlic salt to the melted butter used to drizzle over the tops.

Make It A Meal: Serve smothered in Sausage Gravy or Dried Beef Gravy
