-Brown sausage in a skillet over medium-high heat; remove sausage from
pan.
-Stir bacon grease/lard/shortening into sausage drippings
and return to medium heat.
-Stir flour into pan and cook, stirring constantly, until
golden brown.
-Gradually whisk milk into pan.
-Cook until mixture begins to simmer, then add sausage,
coffee/bouillon, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper
to pan.
-Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes or until thickened.
Make It A Meal: Serve over
Buttermilk Biscuits or
Country Fried Steak.

Sausage Gravy tonight on my husband, a
born-and-raised southerner from Louisiana (I
myself am from Hawaii). The recipe was a BIG HIT
with him and he swears it's the best he's ever
had (and not just because I'm his wife!).
WONDERFUL recipe and VERY easy to make. If you
don't use the bacon grease, don't worry about it.
I made it without the bacon grease and it came
out wonderful.
