-In a large bowl, cream together the shortening and sugar until smooth.
-Beat in eggs one at a time.
-Stir in 1 Tbls. milk and 1 tsp. vanilla.
-Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; stir into
creamed mixture.
-Cover dough and chill for at least 1 hour.
-On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to
1/4" thick.
-Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters.
-Place cookies 1 1/2" apart on lightly greased
cookie sheets.
-Bake in a 400 degree oven for 6-8 minutes.
-Remove cookies from cookie sheet and cool on wire racks.
-In a small bowl, beat butter, 1 tsp. vanilla, and
powdered sugar until smooth.
-Stir in remaining milk, 1 Tbls. at a time, until mixture
is a good spreading consistency.
-Stir in food coloring.
-Decorate cooled cookies with icing.
