-In a quart-size canning jar, layer ingredients in the order in which
they are listed, making sure layers are as level as possible. After adding
sugar, pack down firmly with a flat, narrow object; repeat after adding
brown sugar.
-Center an 8" fabric circle over the lid and secure with a rubber band. Tie
a ribbon just under the rubber band to secure fabric, then remove rubber
band.
-Attach a card with baking instructions and mark with an expiration date of
1 year from date made.
Baking Instructions:
-In a large bowl, cream together 1/2 cup softened butter, 2 eggs, and 1 tsp.
vanilla extract.
-Add the contents of the jar and stir until well mixed.
-Drop the dough by teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet 2" apart.
-Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for 8 - 10 minutes, until light brown.
-Allow to cool on the pan for 2 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool
completely.
-Makes 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
